Good Times

Dad and I have found some time to spend doing something that I loved to do as a little boy; going to the mountains and get a truck full of wood. We have been having a great time, we load the chain saw up and head for the hills. Of course we hope that we don't have to burn this wood but it is a - Just in case - adventure. It is fun remembering all the times we had getting wood all those years ago, loading the big 2 ton trucks of Brad's, the tree falling on Cloyd and Carolyn's truck, getting hit in the head with a lead bar cutting it open, and getting stung by bees, what memories we have as family and friends. For this trip Dad made a rack to put on the truck so that we could get a good load, so Saturday we loaded the truck up and headed toward Petty Mountain, it has been good spending time in the mountains but most of all with Dad, I'm greatful that he will take time out of his busy schedule to let me drag him to the mountains for a load of wood, I don't know if he realizes how much it really means to me. When we got home we took the kids with us to unload the truck, they were good little helpers, it took them no time at all to pitch the wood out of the truck into a little pile.

Wet Ones

Hello all, well we finally have another event to post. This past weekend was UEA so the kids didn't have school and Lynn, Millie, Karlie, Alawna and Austin went to Toronto to attend an event that is put on by some of the people that they worked with in Africa. So while they were gone grandma and grandpa had the grandkids all weekend and she wanted to find something new and fun for them to do while they were atGrandma's House. Vernal has a new recreation center that has an indoor pool with slide and a little play center in the middle with all kinds of different things to do, so we decided to go give it a try, it is a fun place to go, fun for all ages. Mason and Sydney had fun going down the slides and chasing Ian, Tracie and I around and around in the little current channel (Ian loved this the most, the current took us around in circles, he wore Tracie and I out). The slides are also fun, you can really get moving down them. I was a great time hanging out with the kids, fun had by all.

For A Stroll

Tracie and I have been talking about going backpacking for a couple years now, well we decided to we finally decided that we would take a little stroll through the mountains over the weekend and walk into the Grandaddy lakes. It is a 4 mile hike, that seems like forever when you have 40 pounds worth of stuff on your back especially when it is a gradual climb up hill for about 3 miles of it. We had a good time other than we of course had to pick the coldest weekend all summer, Friday night was pretty chilly, Saturday was cold and I wish Saturday would of been as nice as Sunday was because it was nice and warm. The only other thing that was a bummer other than the weather was the fishing, it was no good, I only caught to stinking fish. The hike out was a lot easier because it was down hill, we took our time and took pictures as we walked. Over all it was a good weekend adventure, next summer our goal is to make it to climb Kings Peak.

Mexico

Mexico was a good time, Tracie and I took a trip down to celebrate our 5th anniversary. It was actually our first honeymoon if I was to be truthful. We went to the Yucatan peninsula and stayed at the Sandos Caracol Beach Resort and Spa about 5 miles from Playa del Carmen, it was on the beach, had a few pools to choose from, had all kinds of different restaurants, and they had different shows at night to watch if you wanted to. Tracie and I took some time to play on the beach and swim in the pool but not much because we wanted to get out and see some of the sights near by. We went to Playa del Carmen and walked the main street that had all of the shops, they are packed in there, it's funny they all pretty much have the same things and when you walk by they say, "come to my shop, I have everything, I give you good deal," or "come in my shop, just for the hell of it." Tracie thought it was pretty fun to try to get the people in the shops to try to get them to bring the price down, she was pretty good at it to. We took one afternoon to take a trip to Xcaret, it's kind of like a little amusement park, it has all kinds of different things to do, Tracie played with the big sea turtles, we watched a Mayan warrior dance, and went to the butterfly museum just to name a few of the things we did there. At night they have a show that starts with the Mayan people and works its way up through time until now, it was a great show, very glad we took the time to see that. We also took an afternoon to go to Tulum and see some of the ruins, they are amazing to see, Tracie and I decided not to take a taxi but to save some money and take the bus to Tulum, on the way down the bus had to many people on it so we had to stand in the aisle and hold on for dear life, the bus ride was about an hour, now I know what cattle must feel like. I wish we could of climbed them like I was able to 15 years ago when I was in high school. I wish we could of had more time to go to some of the other ruins but I guess we saved them for a trip in the future. We had to take a picture of the policeman and his big gun for Jason. The vacation was fun but boy is it good to be bad on US soil.

Blown Away

Saturday night was a wild night, at about 11 pm the wind started to blown and then I started to wonder if the windows in our house would come in, the house started to shake a little, it was a little scary, nothing like what the Myer's bunch went through during Katrina but it was still pretty wild for this neck of the woods. Dad called me Sunday and asked if I could help him move a pine tree that the wind blew over at Areva's house. It was a good little work out, we had lots of help, Alawna, Austin, Mason, Mason's friend Andrew, Mom, Dad, Bruce Weatherston, and me. Many hands make light work. Earlier in the day Mom and Dad spend some time racking their whole lawn because it was covered in dead branches from the trees around their house. Nothing like a like action in the good old town of Roosevelt.

Saturday Activity

Dad and I decided to go for a ride Saturday to see what we could get into. We loaded up our fishing poles and headed to the mountains. We thought we would go up by Pole Creek and see if we could find Larva lake, it is a nice little half mile hike off the rode, there wasn't much action on the lake (Dad caught one and I caught one) so we decide to go hike up the West fork of the White Rock River. We hiked up the trail for about 2 miles and then walked down to the river and fished it down to the truck, we caught lots of fish, it was a great time. After eating some lunch we got ready to head home and thats when the real fun hoped, the truck told me to check the tire pressure front driver side, sure enough it was going flat. Dad and I took turns getting the spare tire on and home we headed. In all we had a good time, it was good to get out of the heat and breathe some mountain air.

Rockin' To Poison

Happy 4th of July Y'all, Tracie and I went out to Salt Lake Last night (July 3rd) to go to the Poison Concert, it was awesome. It was fun to ROCK to that 80's music. I thought that I would post a few pictures. A lot of people think it is funny that I like Poison, the story behind me liking Poison is this, When I was around 8 or 9 I liked to sleep on Lynn's floor, he would play the song "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" so now when I hear that song it brings back those memories of me sleeping on Lynn's floor.
